Fox Valley Soccer League Rules and Code of Conduct

Game Considerations

Games will consist of 2 (35 minute) halves for a total duration of 70 minutes. Games will end in ties except in the tournament in which ties will be decided by 20 minutes extra time followed by shootouts with both teams sending 5 players to shoot penalties. If not concluded by these shots, each team will send one additional player to take a penalty kick until one team has decisively won. Teams must have a minimum of 7 players on the field in order to compete and will suffer a forfeit without as many players on the field 10 minutes past the scheduled game time.

Player Attire

Each player must be in league distributed uniform to participate. Players arriving at a game without uniforms will not be allowed to participate. Players also must wear shin guards and rubber cleats (no metal cleats allowed).

Game Ethics

Profane or insulting language will result in a yellow or red card, depending on the severity. A red card will result in expulsion for the remainder of the current game and the entirety of the following game. Players accruing two red cards will be reviewed by the league officials for possible expulsion from the league. Any player who physically assaults another player will be subject to termination from the league, pending review from the league officials.

Rosters

Rosters are locked upon the commencement of the season and cannot be added to or manipulated by any team. Any team found fielding a player not registered by the league officials will be subject to forfeit of the match pending review by league officials. All players must bring a photo ID with them to the game. All players may be subject to provide proof of identification, should the referee deem it advisable. If the player is unable to present the official with proper identification, the player in question may be expelled from the game.

Game Play

All game play and roster issues are subject to the lead referee’s discretion and in accordance with the FIFA rules. Lead referee will have all game jurisdictions to call games as fairly as possible. However, mistakes will be made and players must play on. Questionable calls may be contested only by the team captain. The referee may issue a yellow or red card to any player infringing upon the referee’s jurisdiction and thus interfering with the remainder of the contest.

Judson University

Judson University is a smoke free and alcohol free campus and Fox Valley Soccer players and fans are required to abide by this University policy.

Weather Cancellation PRIOR to Game

Weather : In the case of lightning or extreme weather, games will be cancelled by the league officials. The league officials will contact the captains if the game is cancelled and each player will then be notified by their respective captains. Please note that games not cancelled by the league will still be considered legitimate, and if one team fails to have 7 players to compete, they will forfeit the game. Saturday rain outs will be planned to be made up the following day (Sunday) subject to confirmation by league officials.

Weather Cancellation DURING the Game

During a game, in case of lightning or extreme weather, games will be cancelled by lead referee. Games called prior to halftime, will not be official. Games will be rescheduled, if possible at a later date.
